Complete Health Partners Supports Voices of Freedom with End Slavery, TN
The team at Complete Health Partners was thrilled to support Voices of Freedom on September 28th, 2022. End Slavery Tennessee hosts Voices of Freedom annually to fundraise for specialized case management and comprehensive aftercare for human trafficking survivors to tactically address the problem through advocacy, prevention and training of front-line professionals. Starting in the fall of 2021, Complete Health Partners began donating their services to End Slavery Tennessee to provide comprehensive medical care for human trafficking survivors while they are participating in the organization’s residential and transitional recovery programs.
Complete Health Partners is a local healthcare provider owned and operated by Nashville physicians with three area clinics in West Nashville, Downtown Nashville, and Hendersonville. Throughout the course of 2021 and 2022, their team of medical providers received specialized training from End Slavery Tennessee to to provide trauma-informed care for human trafficking victims, who often have endured years of physical and emotional abuse, as well as medical neglect. Survivors may also suffer from compounding issues from child abuse and other past trauma.
“Complete Health Partners will be meeting a crucial need of the survivors we serve,” said Catherine Barkley of End Slavery Tennessee in September of 2021. “This is the first time our organization has found a partner that is willing and able to provide wrap-around medical care at no cost to us or our clients. Most of our clients don’t have medical insurance or qualify for Medicaid, so our care coordinators typically have to treat any immediate medical need like an emergency. This partnership will help us avoid the astronomical costs of ER visits and allow our clients to receive preventative care and prescription medicines.”
“As a community-based medical provider, one of our goals has always been to give back to our community in a meaningful way,” said Dr. Ty Babcock, an ER-trained physician and CEO of Complete Health Partners. “We learned about the work of End Slavery Tennessee and felt like our care model made us the perfect fit for meeting this unmet need. At our clinics, we prioritize holistic care, where we’re addressing not only the physical but also the emotional needs of our patients. The training our medical team will receive through End Slavery Tennessee will make us better providers for human trafficking survivors, but also, anyone entering our doors who has experienced trauma.”
Due to the emotional manipulation often used by sex traffickers, victims may not self identify as being a victim.
